Thoughts on catalogues and Felicity's new items...

Looking at the thread about all the new items, it seems like the general consensus is "I can't wait to see them!" I'm also completely thrilled with the news. I've been thinking, though, that I'd like to try and wait until they come out in the catalogue to see them. It's great fun seeing people's albums with new items in them before they're on the website or in the catalogue. However, I remember when I was younger being literally spellbound by the catalogue when new things came out. I got a taste of that same feeling when I randomly received a catalogue with Nellie and her collection in it last fall. That's what sparked my renewed interest in AG. I often like people's "real" photos of things better than the individual catalogue/website pictures, but there's just something special about looking through the catalogue.

It's going to take a degree of willpower that I'm not sure I possess, but I'm really going to try to avoid all your wonderful albums of the new items until September. I want to open that catalogue and have my breath taken away once again. It sounds like Lissie's new collection will be amazing, so it seems like the perfect opportunity to recapture that magic I felt when I opened my first AG catalogue 11 years ago.

I'm going to take a slightly different spin on your plan. I'm going to try to enjoy all the new items ONLY in the catalog and stores--in other words, just looking, not buying. I can't buy all the new stuff...I don't want to be so overwhelmed with my collection! As it is I have all of Felicity's furniture except her night table and I have almost no display room left. I don't know what I'll do when she gets an almost $1000 new collection. [img]eek.gif[/img] I planned to accumulate everything new for Felicity, but I'm going to have to change the plan. Before I got back into AG obsessively I never would have bought everything I've bought in the last year, let alone all of the new things for Felicity, so I'm going to have to be very selective in what I choose to buy. But I can't wait to open a catalog and see Felicity smiling up at me... [img]wink.gif[/img]

Actually, I have NO choice. Not after my weekend spending spree.

I *might* get the night table because I already have the other existing Felicity furniture. And probably Noah's ark just because I've always wanted it and it is part of the Christmas story. It will be a cute play item on Christmas morning.

But I think any other new items will have to wait for Diana's birthday in April. And besides, I don't have anything particular put away for that yet. Maybe then she could get Elizabeth and a few of her things for her bday.

I like getting the catalog before seeing the pictures online, too! Unfortunately, I can't stay away from the computer when I know I can see them!! With the new dance outfits, I ordered them and got them before we had even seen them in print...I was happy to get them, but it does take something away when you don't drool over the catalog atleast for a few days! [img]wink.gif[/img]

For that reason, I probably won't be ordering Felicity's new items and Elizabeth in August.

I'm going to have to wait to buy the collection, too. DD's tuition is due in August, and she wants a bike for Christmas. Soooooooooo, I'll probably get Elizabeth because I've already promised it for her (fall) birthday and maybe the Christmas outfits and one or two of the smaller accessories. I figure I'll have a little longer to buy everything else. I can't wait to see everything though.

Since I want Marisol and all her things, I will be waiting to purchase any new Lissie items until late in the fall. <Gasp> I may not even buy Elizabeth, given that I already have a blue eyed, blond Elizabeth.

Delayed gratification is good. I waited 3 years for Samantha and she is most precious to me of all!

I'm not waiting for the catalog, as much as I'd love to. There's no telling when I'll actually get it, if at all. I seem to be on the random and sporadic list when it comes to getting catalogs. But I am going to save it when it finally gets here!

Can I just say, I love having a birthday in October and a mom who loves AG too!

I don't plan on waiting for the catalogue to see the items- I'm chomping at the bit to see what they look like!

I have the opposite problem with receiving catalogues. I have a lot of my packages sent to my boyfriend's place, so they apparently decided to start sending catalogues to that address too. My poor boyfriend received not one but two catalogues in the last week addressed to him...

I remember loving to see the catalogs with the new stuff. The catalogs just aren't like they were before either. Things are easier to study with the catalog too, the computer is great, but you do loose quite a bit with it. DD still prefers catalogs. I think I get a better picture of what she really wants too by what pages are WORN out! :-)

DD's b-day is at the end of Aug, so she will be fortunate I think with these new items. Felicity is also one of her favorites...thank goodness MIL, Auntie, and even an Uncle get these "things." I think the carriage and horse supplies are going to be first on her list.
